POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES

Our two Post Graduate Diploma programmes (PGD) have been designed to provide students with a broad understanding of working life and practices within the hotel industry. To achieve this goal the programmes have a dual perspective: these focus both on the daily operations within the departments of a hotel, as well as on the decision-making processes that lead to effective departmental and hotel supervision.

During the 18 weeks of the programmes, students are given hands-on instruction in the four key functions of a hotel, i.e. Food Production, Food & Beverage Service, Housekeeping and Front Office Operations. This active exposure to departmental activities is supplemented by theoretical input to provide the necessary underpinning knowledge.

The theoretical input includes lessons in Management Control Systems and Hotel Operations Management. These subjects are delivered in a combination of lectures, seminars and case-study work.

Course Location: SEG University Centre, Leysin.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Hospitality Management at IHTTI has been designed to give individuals a broad understanding of the international hospitality and related industries. This base will also allow the student to work effectively at the operational level within the industry fairly quickly (typically within hotels and restaurants) and help to build a career up to management level over time. The course is particularly useful to those who have already obtained a university-level qualification within another discipline and are now expecting to become senior managers within international hotels, chains and resorts.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Hotel Operations Management at IHTTI has been designed to give individuals a solid foundation in understanding management operations within international hotels. This base will also allow the student to work effectively at the operational level within a hotel after 5 months and help to build a career in management over time. The course is relevant to those who have already obtained a university-level qualification within another discipline and are looking to build a future within the international hotel industry.
