"I grew up on a tropical island where tourism is an important sector of the economy and hospitality is within each Mauritian. When it came time to choose my tertiary study, hospitality was a natural choice.
At IHTTI I learned many important skills, which are important in my job. I learned time management skills, to work as a part of a team with people from different backgrounds and adapt to change. After I graduated, I returned to Mauritius and started to work as a receptionist at the Le Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel, the island’s first business hotel. In 2010 I had the opportunity to join the Hilton Mauritius Resort and Spa and I love working for a company where we live and work by the vision of the founder; fill the earth with the light and warmth of hospitality.
The values of the company are all things that I learned the importance of at IHTTI; Hospitality, Integrity, Leadership, Teamwork, Ownership, Now!
I am really proud of my path with the Hilton where I have just been promoted to Front Desk Supervisor. This is a great challenge and opportunity for me to prove what I can learn and do. For students who are considering studying hospitality
I would say that hospitality cannot be learned from a textbook and students should take the opportunity to learn it from the people around them. At IHTTI I leaned true Swiss hospitality and it is a pleasure for me to wake up each day and tell myself that I will make someone’s day!"
